Budget tracking with blanket POs
We typically establish a budget for, let's say, marketing for 2016 for $1MUSD.
We would like to do this by creating a requisition for 1 MUSD on the clost location marketing with a time period (2016-jan-1 to 2016-dec-31).
The benefits of this would be a formal approval flow for this budget.
The full year budget PO is my Blanket PO for marketing for 2016.
During the year, as we buy marketing services and product, each individual requisition with cost lines coded on cost location marketing will add up and check the current consumption of the marketing budget against the blanket PO.
When the sum of all requisitions created in 2016 (and which are coded on the cost location marketing) is near the total amount of the blanket PO, the cost location owner (marketing manager) will receive an alert for this.
If a requisition (if created) would bust the budget as approved in the blanket PO, the requisition will not be possible to be created.
This feature would provide
1. A controlled process for setting the budget for a fiscal year per cost location.
2. Continuous monitoring of budget burn-down-.
3. Alerts when budget is getting low.
4. Controls that prevent over-spending.
